Install Pocket
Review the installation plan, choose which phases to run and understand what the backup can restore.

Before you start
Pocket expects Arch Linux and Hyprland 0.56 or newer. Its compositor configuration is hyprland.lua. Instructions for the older hyprland.conf format don’t describe this setup.
You’ll need an internet connection and a regular user account with access to sudo. Run the installer as your user; it requests elevated privileges for the phases that need them.
Get the repository
The command builder below lets you choose a language and how files are installed. Start with Review the plan. The second tab shows the command that applies your choices.
git clone https://github.com/diegoMalagrida/pocket-dots
cd pocket-dots
./install.sh --dry-runPrints the plan without changing your system. Run this first.
The commands, one at a time
git clone https://github.com/diegoMalagrida/pocket-dots
cd pocket-dots
Look at the plan first:
./install.sh --dry-run
Then install:
./install.sh
On a fresh installation, the suggested language follows your locale: Spanish for a Spanish locale, English otherwise. If Pocket already has a saved language, the installer keeps that preference. An interactive run offers a language choice; to choose explicitly:
./install.sh --lang en
You can change the language later in Settings.
What the installer changes
| Phase | What it does |
|---|---|
base, aur |
Checks the system and builds yay if it’s missing. |
packages, repos |
Installs the package lists, shell framework and plugins. |
system, config |
Places system files in /etc, then links the dotfiles into your home directory. Replaced home files are backed up. |
graphics, services |
Detects graphics hardware, installs drivers and enables the listed services. |
sddm, spicetify |
Installs the login theme and applies the Spotify theme. |
final |
Sets up fonts, shell, groups, the first palette and Pokémon sprites. |
The sprite download is around 270 MB and isn’t stored in Git. The installer also changes your default shell to zsh. The system, sddm and spicetify phases write outside your home directory and request sudo.
Keep the repository where it is.
By default, your configuration is symlinked to this clone. Moving or deleting the clone breaks those links. Use ./install.sh --copy if you want independent copies instead.
Install individual pieces
The installer accepts phase names. For example, to place the configuration again, or to rerun packages and services:
./install.sh config
./install.sh packages services
Run ./install.sh --help for the complete list. After installation, ./diagnose checks what’s missing or failing without changing it.
Other hardware
Pocket was built on an Intel laptop. Battery and brightness controls appear when the hardware provides them. Without Wi-Fi hardware, the Network panel can show the wired connection and hides the Wi-Fi radio control. Multiple monitors get their own bar; the focused screen owns the open panels.
Check display scale and arrangement on your machine. The default compositor scale is 1, and shell type sizes use fixed pixels, so a high resolution display may need adjustment. Review the generated driver choices on hybrid or NVIDIA machines.
Restore the home configuration
./install.sh restore
This restores the home configuration replaced by the config phase, using ~/.dotfiles-backup/. Packages and changes from the system, service, SDDM and Spotify phases remain installed.
After installation, your first five minutes walks through the main controls.
