Try the basics
1. Find your bearings
The clock sits in the notch at the top. The dots on the left are your workspaces. The right side of the bar shows tray icons and status indicators.
Super means the Windows or Command key. Start with these:
| Press | To open |
|---|---|
| Super Q | A terminal |
| Super E | Files |
| Super R | The launcher |
| Super D | The Control Centre |
2. Choose a wallpaper
Press Super Shift W to open the wallpaper picker. Choosing an image also updates the desktop’s colours.
The picker can use images from your wallpaper folder or from the web. Put your own images in ~/Pictures/wallpapers/. Colours & wallpapers explains how the palette is applied.
3. Try notch and island
Press Super N. The notch becomes a floating island. Press it again to return to the edge.
For more control, open Settings with Super ,. Appearance has the shape, typography and bar controls, with a preview of the result.
4. Switch workspaces
Use Super 1 through 0 to switch between ten workspaces. Add Shift to send the focused window there.
Super Tab opens the workspace map. It shows your real windows at scale; you can drag a window into another workspace. Explore workspaces.
5. Meet the team
Sign into GitHub from the terminal:
gh auth login
Then open the team with Super Shift O. Your GitHub contributions give the team experience. The panel also has controls for the walking companion and Exp. Share.
Look up a shortcut
Super K opens Settings on the Shortcuts page. It reads the current Hyprland bindings, including any changes you’ve made. The web reference lists Pocket’s versioned defaults.
