A File System Written in C

Files, directories, reads and writes, implemented underneath the operating system's answer rather than on top of it.

Overview

A file manager written in C for the Operating Systems II course, implementing the basic operations of a file system (creating, deleting, reading, writing and moving files and directories) over its own on-disk structures.

Using a file system is a handful of commands. Writing one is finding out what each of those commands has to bookkeep: where a file’s blocks actually are, what a directory is when it is only another file, what has to be updated atomically when a name changes, and what happens to the blocks a deletion leaves behind. The project simulates the ordinary commands from the outside and does that bookkeeping underneath, in modular C with its own headers, Makefile and test scripts.

This is the project mentioned on the About page as the one that changed how I read the rest of a system. The repository is private.
