Overview
My Arch Linux and Hyprland desktop, kept as a repository: clone it on a fresh install and one script brings the whole thing up, recoloured from the wallpaper so no colour is hardcoded anywhere.
The colours are the part that makes it worth versioning. Everything in the shell (bar, prompt, menus, terminal) is regenerated from the current wallpaper through pywal, so changing the wallpaper re-themes the desktop instead of starting an afternoon of editing config files. The compositor is configured in hyprland.lua rather than hyprland.conf, which needs Hyprland 0.56 or newer.
An install script that rewrites someone’s machine has to be honest about what it touches, so this one can be asked first: --dry-run prints the plan and changes nothing, restore undoes it, and diagnose reports what is missing or will not start. It never goes near /boot, the bootloader or the partitions; outside $HOME it writes twelve files in /etc, and it asks before every phase that needs sudo. The desktop comes up in Spanish by default and --lang en switches it, either way, without a restart.
