About Me
Hi! I’m Diego Malagrida González, a third-year Computer Engineering student at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), currently specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Computing.
My journey into tech didn’t start the typical way. When I began my degree, I had never written a line of code, and I wasn’t even sure if Computer Engineering was the right path for me. I just knew I wanted to challenge myself and build a future doing something meaningful. Over time, through a lot of effort, curiosity, and the help of some amazing friends, I slowly discovered how exciting this world really is—and I genuinely fell in love with it.
A big part of that came from building projects that pushed me outside my comfort zone. One of the most important was developing a full Pac-Man style game in MC68000 assembly, where I worked close to the hardware: handling input, graphics, collisions, scoring, and even ghost behavior. Another project that shaped me a lot was building a complete file management system in Linux using C, which strengthened my understanding of operating systems and made me appreciate how powerful well-structured low-level code can be.
Right now, I’m especially focused on Artificial Intelligence, particularly deep learning. I love staying up to date with the latest research—reading recent papers, following new models, and learning what’s new—not just out of curiosity, but because I want to truly understand how these systems work and eventually contribute my own small piece to the field.
